1. Hot Potatoes
Hot Potatoes offers a whole package of services to help teachers create interactive exercises. These exercises are created in two easy steps. In the first step, the program creates data like abc.jcw, abc.jcl, etc. These files cannot be opened without Hot Potatoes. After editing the exercises, these exercises are exported to a file that has .htm ending. They can be displayed anywhere on the web, or they can run directly from our computer using a web browser.
Before creating an exercise, we need to think of what we want to achieve with them. We have 5 types of exercises to choose from:
- JCloze - allows us to create a complementary exercise
- JMatch - creates an exercise where two words or images are joined together
- JQuiz - this function allows us to create dichotomic questions (Yes/No, True/False), exercises with a single-word response and exercises with multiple-choice
- JCross - can create simple crosswords
- JMix - creates exercises where students have to arrange items according to different criteria
After completing the exercise, we can use the Masher function to group exercises into single unit.
